Waymaker: Curated content for people who don't follow the herd.
They have run you through so many personality tests that you can’t take it anymore. You’ve been Myers-Briggsed, Ennagrammed, DISCed and so on and on and on.
But you know you’re more than a type or a profile. You refuse to be put into a box and labelled.
They have pitched their plans through direct mail, social media, and good old fashioned bait and switch tricks. You’ve seen the “easy” steps to success and the “foolproof” formulae for winning the game of life.
But you know that the real world is vastly more complex and interesting. You refuse to blindly follow the herd.
You are your own person. You make your own way.
You’re thoughtful about life and want to live with meaning and passion. You’re curious about the world and you pursue that curiosity where it leads. You question, you explore, you experiment, you want to understand. You are a pioneer, an entrepreneur, a maverick.
You are a Waymaker.
Waymakers learn differently. It is not enough to intellectually know data. They need to experience knowledge in action. They know that any teaching or insight they glean from someone has to be adapted, tweaked, modified, or otherwise hacked to fit their life. They listen to lots of different teachers and pick out what they can actually apply. Waymakers make their own system, custom designed and optimized just for them.
You’re not alone.
There are Waymakers out there, scattered in different fields and industries and organizations. They work quietly, outside the normal structures. They navigate around the barriers thrown up by the way things have always been done. They tend to not be the glamorous poster children for their businesses or industries. They’re focused on doing interesting things.
Waymakers are drawn to one another. They sense when someone thinks differently. They know when someone is not satisfied with the mainstream of conventional wisdom. They can spot someone who has strength of mind to not be seduced by the scheme peddlers or conspiracy theorists. They are drawn to the tinkerers, the eccentrics, the people who march to their own tune. Waymakers know that they can learn a lot from other Waymakers.
I’m inviting you to participate in my own Waymaking experiment.
I’m creating a weekly digest of curated material that is interesting, inspiring, and helpful to Waymakers. I want this newsletter to be one that people actually read. I want to send out material that is so useful that people are excited when it arrives in the inbox.
But I only have the vaguest idea of how to do that. So I’m asking for your help. I’m going to produce a three month pilot of the Waymaker Newsletter, and I’m inviting you to be a part of the pilot community. Let me send you great information - all I ask is that you give me your feedback and your content suggestions. At the end of three months, I’ll put the newsletter on hold for a month and assess what I’ve learned. Of course, I’ll share with you my digest of that assessment.
So how about you join me in this experiment? All you have to do is fill out the form with your email address. I’m looking forward to learning with you.
Sign up now so you don’t miss the first issue. We go live in September
In the meantime, tell your friends!
